Welcome to my world.

I’ve been sewing as long as I can remember. My grandmother was a dressmaker in the late 20s/30s and had the dubious kudos of hand stitching knickers for the Queen of Holland.

She taught me to sew and then my auntie showed me the joys of patchwork. She worked near a Courtaulds factory and would raid the waste bins out the back, bringing home bags of paisley pyjama offcuts which we would spend hours with, making English paper pieced hexagons. I hand hand stitched almost a whole quilt by the time I was 12, sadly accidentally leaving it behind on a family holiday and the cottage owner denying all sight of it…

I’ve always kept my love of sewing, adding an obsession with vintage textiles in my early twenties when most fabric departments had closed and I discovered the world of wonderful vintage fabrics that had been stored away in people’s stashes for years. I love using old fabrics and giving then new life. I also now love hand sewing, previously I would avoid it at all costs!
